Leave the Couch Together 07: The Devil’s Slopes 18 December 2016

The next LTC Together with Totalsports happens on the 18th of December as we ramp it up for the final test of the year. Whilst everyone else is winding down we’ve decided to give it a proper go and here’s your chance to show just how much you’ve improved on your fitness journey. Here are the details of the run…

This is going to be a tough one. We will be enforcing the rule of runners being able to run a 5km comfortably. There are some really tough climbs on the 7km course and this should definitely not be your first run for the year.

Tammy and I have been using this exact route at least once a week as a time trial in the build up to the Ultra-trail Cape Town 65km race. It provides a good mix of long climbs, sharp single track and some small rockier sections to keep our technique sharp while not being unnecessarily risky wrt ankle sprains.

We will meet up at the Haig Road park in University Estate at 6:30am for a 7am start. There should be ample parking in the surrounding streets. The first kilometre will be on road to give you a chance to warm-up. Runners will cross over De Waal Drive onto the start of the Devil’s Peak trails when we hit Kylemore Road – this is when it will get real as we go straight into a 1 kilometre climb 🙂

If that doesn’t get your quads going then Plumpudding Hill definitely will at the 3km mark. Yes, we are going sadistic on this one…..mwahahahahahaaaaa!

As it’s also the season of giving, there may be one or two more surprises along the way 🙂 We should return to the start around 8am.

In the spirit of Leave the Couch Together, the run is:

  • Aimed at beginners;
  • About getting outside and enjoying the run;
  • A pack run and no-one gets left behind, and
  • Focused on adventure in a chilled out space

As previously mentioned, we will be limiting the numbers to 40 participants to ensure that everyone is safe and has the best experience possible. Complete the registration form below to secure your place:

Registration is now closed. Add your name to our mailing list to stay informed for the next Leave the Couch Together event 🙂

See you on Sunday!
