Altra Lone Peak 4 Review
I got so many chirps from Altra fans when I said that the Salomon Sense Pro 3 was the best shoe of 2018. So to quiet the angry mob, I went and bought a pair of these as soon as they were restocked at the RUN store.
And… after 100kms in a shoe that was the top seller at the RUN store in 2018, I’m pretty convinced that the Altra Lone Peak 4 (in fact all Altra trail running shoes) are just not designed for me.
The shoe works for alot of my friends who have broader feet. I have mates that have run mega distances in them with no issues. However, I have a narrow foot and my feet just swim in them. It is so bad that it I fully believe that it compromised my review because each time I went for a run, I could feel the shoe twist around my foot as soon as the terrain got remotely technical. Culminating in the worst ankle sprain I’ve had in the last 2yrs. I’ve learnt my lesson and will stick to shoes that fit me.
Here are my thoughts about the Altra Lone Peak 4 trail running shoes:
- These tend to work for Altra fans in all elements. You should really check in with them
WHAT NEEDS WORK
- Maybe Altra should have narrower models for us gazelles to go with the usual width that they make for Hobbits
This shoe just isn’t for me. I tried them way back when I hadn’t had enough experience in trail shoes and they were okay. I now know what type of fit I like to suit my running style and this just isn’t it.
