Trail Bokkies: Rocks and Rainbows

This Wednesday’s mid-week Trail Bokkies run was a special one. Not only did we welcome the return of our travelling bokkies Rushdie and Nailah from their epic holiday, it was also the first time we got to run the Pipe Track at Table Mountain.

The Pipe Track was originally a service path for maintaining pipes. It now is an awesome trail with links to other paths – allowing you to really carve out your own run distance. It is a bit challenging on the ankles with sections of the way strewn with rocks which can get quite slippery as we found out. So take it easy and you will get (as Malikah calls it) “a great ankle conditioning workout” 🙂

We started out leaving the Kloof Nek parking area at the bottom of Table Mountain and headed toward Kasteelspoort. As you run, you are gifted with amazing views of Lion’s Head and Camps Bay as well as beautiful flowers and trees all around you.

As we were running we met some light drizzle which left the path a bit slippery, especially over the rockier sections. But, with the rain came an awesome rainbow which provided some nice photo-ops!

An awesome time and great run out with the Trail Bokkies which lasted about 8.5kms. Definitely a nice break from the usual work week.
